The MSU Bikes Service Center (BSC) agrees to lease a MSU Green Bike (bike)
to: (person completing this online application referred to as 'User' herein)
User
agrees to pick up a bike from the BSC and return the bike to the BSC
at the end of the one year term. User understands the fees as outlined on this page and a refundable deposit (also noted on this page)
are required for a bike leased to defray the costs of the lock provided
with the bike and any necessary maintenance. Deposits are not required for bikes leased for MSU departments or offices.
The User will be presented with a bike in sound working order and
a lock. BSC strongly recommends the use of a helmet (we occasionally have free ones and also some for sale). User assumes responsibility for the bike and agrees to lock
the bike securely and properly per MSU regulations to prevent theft and impoundment
by MSU DPPS during the lease period. User agrees to notify the BSC if the
bike (or a part) is stolen, damaged, or in need of adjustments or repair and
to bring the bike to the BSC workshop for any repairs. BSC will attempt to
have bike repairs completed within 7 working days of receiving the bike from
the User. Pickup of a disabled bike can be arranged if necessary.
It is expressly agreed that the use and/or operation of any bike from the
BSC is at the User's sole risk and User assumes any and all risk from the
use and/or operation of any bike from the BSC. The BSC strongly recommends the use of a helmet by the User when riding the bike being leased. It is further expressly agreed
that the BSC staff, advisory committee and officers, representatives, employees,
or students, shall not be liable for any claims, demands, injuries, damages,
actions or causes of action whatsoever to the User or any other person arising
out of or connected with the use and/or operation of any bike from the BSC.
The User hereby expressly forever releases the BSC and Michigan State University
from any and all claims, demands, injuries, or actions.
I have read the foregoing Exculpatory Agreement and Release, and by completing
this online application acknowledge that I understand and agree to its terms.
Note: Applications are not a guarantee that a rental bike will be available as they are leased on a first-come-first-served basis. It’s best to come to the Center and check availability during our business hours (posted to our home page)
