The Dem Hall Gathering of Willing Mechanics continues thru the fall semester of 2009 but we've switched to Wednesday evenings.
So if you would like to learn bike mechanistry through hands-on involvement, make some time this semester on Wednesday evenings (5:30 til 7:00 pm) to come on down.
One other important change: due to limited space and tools we're limiting each session to 4 volunteers. Use this online scheduler to sign-up for a session that doesn't already have 4 people signed up: http://doodle.com/6xm8ef8xspxee5cx
If you have questions email me or Tim at the Center.

More Info:
Would you like to volunteer to help repair aka "recycle" bikes? Or, if you're not mechanically inclined do you have a gift for organizing (there are hundreds of small usable used bike parts that need to be sorted/ organized) or painting? (Many of the bikes get painted MSU green before they're rented out). If so, please consider helping out at the Demonstration Hall workshop on Wednesdays 5:30 til 7:00 pm-ish.
The MSU Bikes Service Center also
offers some instructional workshops during the winter
months which are recommended to new volunteers or anyone interested in learning
more about maintaining or repairing their own bike; check out our Classes page or subscribe to our
Yahoo Group to learn when new classes are posted/ announced.

Objectives & Opportunities:
Volunteers have the opportunity to learn mechanical skills as they work on abandoned or donated bikes which become rental bikes made available at the MSU Bikes Service Center. After volunteering for 3 sessions volunteers are allowed to work on their own bikes. As an additional opportunity volunteers who develop & demonstrate good work skills & ethics are considered for mechanic positions at the MSU Bikes Service Center.
